Study Reveals High Rates of Specialty Changes Among PAs
A study published in BMC Health Services Research found that more than half of PAs (53.4%) have changed specialties at least once in their careers.
However, PAs are young, with a median age of 38, and specialty changes can only be accurately evaluated at the end of their career. The study points out that 76% of PAs reported changing specialties by the time they had accumulated 31 or more years in practice.
These findings indicate that the PA profession’s unique attribute is career flexibility.
