Celebrating 200 Grants & Counting
The nccPA Health Foundation has funded its 200th and 201st grants. Meet the recipients and join them by applying for $2,500 in funding that can make a difference in your community.
PA Educators Christine Rodgers EdD, MPAS, PA-C; L. Carlos Gutiérrez, EdD, MMS, PA-C; Hayden Mulligan, MPAS, PA-C; and Kathryn Reed, MS, PA-C, from the University of Pittsburgh’s Hybrid PA Program received the 200th grant for their mental health community outreach program.
Their project will equip geographically dispersed PA students to build community through peer support and storytelling. Peer allies will receive mental health training and then facilitate virtual support circles. The year-long project will culminate with an art and storytelling campaign to amplify PA student voices, normalize mental health challenges, and celebrate resilience.
The Minnesota Academy of PAs received the 201st grant for their PAs STEP Up project. Led by Jaci Tourtellott, PA-C; Brittany Strelow, DMSc, PA-C; Deepthi Krishna, PA-C; and Hayden Middleton, DMSc, PA-C, this team will partner with the Girl Scouts of Minnesota to introduce the PA profession to girls of diverse backgrounds while teaching age-appropriate first aid skills. PA faculty and students will volunteer as the workshop’s instructors and mentors. Participants will earn their Future PA badge.
