A recent national study shows PAs with postgraduate fellowships or residencies earn only slightly more than those who did not complete a postgraduate fellowship or residency.

The study in Journal of Allied Health examined data from nearly 113,000 Board Certified PAs, providing a comprehensive analysis of the economic implications of completing an advanced postgraduate clinical fellowship/residency.

The study found that while PAs with postgraduate fellowship/residency initially reported earning about $10,000 more than their peers, the gap shrinks when accounting for other factors such as practice setting, region, and years of experience. After adjusting for these variables, the difference was $1,500 annually.
