PA Licensure Compact Marks Another Year of Progress with 20 Member States

The PA Licensure Compact is gaining momentum. With New Jersey recently becoming the 20th state to join, the movement continues to grow. This progress paves the way for a system that will allow Board Certified PAs to practice across state lines without the burden of securing multiple licenses. As many as 14 more states are expected to consider bills this year.

The compact, initially activated in 2024 and projected for full implementation by early 2027, promises to reduce administrative burdens and expand access to care.

NCCPA President and CEO Dawn Morton-Rias, EdD, PA-C, ICE-CCP, FACHE, said that once adopted this initiative will expand opportunities for PAs to address patient needs.
