Why I Volunteer: Cederick D. Cistrunk, MSBS, PA-C

With more than 18 years of experience, Cederick Deon Cistrunk, MSBS, PA-C, is a seasoned Board Certified PA specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. He practices in Detroit, Michigan, at Sinai Grace and Harper University Hospitals. Since completing his PA training, he has focused his career on deepening his expertise in this field.

How did you end up in PA school?
I completed my undergraduate coursework in biology and chemistry at the University of Mississippi. Before entering a PA program, I enrolled in a graduate microbiology and molecular cell science program at the University of Memphis. I worked as a senior medical research assistant at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center before attending PA school. I graduated from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences – PA Program.

How did you find about this volunteering opportunity?
I received an email from NCCPA inviting me to participate with the CVTS (cardiovascular and thoracic surgery) exam content development group. My role involved contributing to blueprint development, exam item writing and standard score setting.
