Message from the President and CEO
We are pleased to be able to share with you this important workforce data on certified PAs in each state and the District of Columbia. With over 93% of certified PAs providing information, we can say this is the most
comprehensive and accurate source of PA information available anywhere. This is the second year we have analyzed and published this data, and over time we hope to be able to show clear trends.
In the meantime, the data continue to support the premise that certified PAs are answering the call to fill the greatest healthcare needs. On a national level:
• 22.6% of certified PAs communicate with patients in a language other than English
• 2.5% work in Rural Health Clinics
• PAs in Primary Care increased 1.7% to 28.3%
• PAs in Internal Medicine subspecialties increased 1.3% to 8.7%
What may be of more interest is what PAs in your state are doing. This report delivers real and useful state-level information about the number of certified PAs, their specialty, clinical setting, gender, race, salary, educational debt and more.
NCCPA is grateful to the PAs who contributed this information, as it offers valuable insights into statewide demographics and the profession as a whole. This and other annual reports are available on our website. We hope you find them useful.
