If your employer has a public relations or public affairs department, start there. They will have contacts with the local news media and may even take care of writing and issuing the announcement for you.

For certified PAs handling this on their own, NCCPA has provided sample press release templates to create your own announcement.

  1. Choose a template below and replace the words in yellow with your own information.
  2. Google your local newspaper or community website to find where to send the release.  Send to the news editor, city desk, or check for a form that says “submit a news tip or press release” and just copy it into that form.
