Coming Soon To A Computer Near You...

With the introduction of the next phase of our Web site development, scheduled for March, PAs will be able to conduct all certification maintenance transactions online.

Online CME logging is already available at NCCPA Connect (www.nccpa.net), and the addition of online reregistration and exam applications will complete the trio of certification maintenance processes.

"We’re interested in making certification as accessible and user-friendly as we possibly can," says Kate Hill, executive director. "By enabling PAs to conduct all of their business with us online, at their convenience, we feel that we’ve gone a long way toward reaching that goal."

The new interactive applications will be available in the restricted-access PA Online section of the Web site. To access that section and your personal certification maintenance checklist, click the "Sign In" button on NCCPA’s home page, and follow the simple on-screen instructions.

See the graphic depiction of a personal certification maintenance checklist on the back of this newsletter for more details about what kind of information you can find there.

All PAs who have provided NCCPA with an e-mail address will receive notification via e-mail when the new interactive applications are available. Not sure if we have your e-mail address? Visit the PA Online section of our Web site to give us that information or confirm that we have your current e-mail address.

The Three Best Ways to Contact NCCPA Staff

Have you had trouble reaching us "live" via telephone? Our two information specialists handle hundreds of calls each day, but sometimes the volume of calls outpaces them. To help save you time and reduce frustration, we have several other ways you can get the information you need quickly.

NCCPA Connect (www.nccpa.net)

Our Web site is a great resource for information about exams, CME logging, the reregistration process, deadlines, fees and much more. You can even log CME and view your own personal certification maintenance checklist all with a few keystrokes at your convenience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fax-on-Demand

Receive exam applications, reregistration applications, CME logging forms and other documents quickly and easily by calling 770.734.4500 and choosing option "6" to access our free fax-on-demand system. Just listen to the menu of available documents, and choose the document number(s) you need. Helpful hint: When asked for your fax number, don’t forget to put a "1" in front of your area code if you’re calling from outside the Atlanta area. Your document(s) will arrive at your fax machine within minutes!

E-mail

Still don’t have the information you need? Save time and long-distance charges by sending e-mail to nccpa@nccpa.net. Your question or request will be answered within one business day. Please be sure to include your name, social security number or certificate number with the details of your request in all messages.

Start taking advantage of these alternative sources of information today!

Reregistration at a Glance

Almost 10 percent of the PAs who were scheduled to reregister and log CME in 2000 failed to complete the requirements before the final December 31 deadline.

In the interest of helping the 13,000 PAs scheduled for reregistration this year understand what they have to do to maintain certification, here’s a run-down of the 2001 reregistration timeline.

1. Submit an Application for Certificate Reregistration.
Beginning in March you’ll be able to complete this process online at NCCPA Connect (www.nccpa.net). However, if you want to handle the process the old-fashioned way, keep an eye on your mail. Your reregistration application and related materials should arrive in March. You may also retrieve an application (document #111) from our fax-on-demand service by calling 770.734.4500 and choosing option "6".

2. Pay the Reregistration Fee.
The reregistration fee is $80. If you pay after July 31, add a $50 late processing fee to your payment (for a total of $130). If you pay after October 31, add a $100 late processing fee (for a total of $180).

3. Log 100 Hours of CME.
Log the required 100 hours of CME with NCCPA or the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

4. Pay the Appropriate CME Logging Fee.
PAs who log CME with NCCPA before July 31 must pay $85 (paper logging) or $70 (online logging). All PAs who log between August 1 and October 31 must also pay NCCPA’s $50 late processing fee. All PAs who log between November 1 and December 31 must pay a $100 late processing fee.
